UWC Adriatic

The United World College of the Adriatic (UWC Adriatic) was founded on initiative of the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia in 1978. It belongs to an international movement (UWC) comprising other 13 Colleges which offer students the possibility of living together for the 2 final years of high school, during which they follow a demanding academic curriculum and have to commit themselves in social service and extra-curricular activities that develop initiative, sense of responsibility and autonomy. Special education consists in teaching methods which foster active learning, analysis and group work. Students are awarded the International Baccalaureate diploma. UWC Adriatic carries out research activities, training for teachers, development and social inclusion projects. It has 47 members of staff (teaching and administrative). UWC Adriatic will be mainly responsible for the implementation of the Training program for teachers involved in the mobility program. It will coordinate the mobility exchange activities and provide support to the schools in the second stage of the accreditation process. Its role and major contribution in the WP 2 and WP 4 are motivated with the experience of its staff in teaching international modules which foster inclusion and put in practice high quality educational methodologies. Every year UWCAD hosts 190 students from 87 countries, who are selected on the basis of merit.
